1:
A: List the different types of filmmaking. How were these styles used to present information?
Allot of interviews were involved consisting of doctors, nutritionists, government, lawyers and many more. Animations used often to help show people what the man was talking about in the voice overs. Video clips also were used relating to whatever was being discussed in the documentary. A lot of fast food advertisements were also included.
B: list the interviewees in the extract?
When an interview started a name would appear in the bottom of the screen saying the person’s name and what their profession was giving the documentary more credibility.
C: What relationship is there with the voice over and images?
The narrator used video clips that related tor proved the point of whatever he was saying at the time. For example when he’s talking about how many people drink soda these days, a video clip shows vending machines with people queuing up to get soda from them. In the interview with one man who’s going on about how children are growing up and by the age of 6 or 7 already knowing a lot of facts about McDonalds and eating it. In the background is children’s voice which is very good to go with the interview.
D: What music features on the soundtrack? Which groups of people is most likely to enjoy this?
The song comes across as upbeat and jolly which makes it most appealing to children. However grownups you understand what they are saying in the song such as things like you’ll get fat from eating McDonalds. So the song gives out the wrong message to children and gives out the right message to adults.
E: What mode of documentary is “Super-Size Me”? Are there any elements of more than one mode?
The mode of the documentary is “The participatory mode” Where the documentary mode maker has a direct contact with the documentary (he takes part in it). The example is the man eating fast-food McDonalds for 30 days which counts as him being am large part of the documentary. The “Per formative mode” is also used which is very similar to the mode above .

Activity 1
1: Who do you think the documentary is aimed at?
The documentary is aimed at fat people because it talks about what fast food can do to people if they have too much.
2: What techniques does Morgan use to persuade the audience of his argument?
His language is very persuasive where for example he talks about the pain he gets from eating the fast food, the doctor’s advice and the diagram at the end of the documentary which shows how much weight the man has gained since he started and other side effects.
